The Wachusett Regional High School Counselors believe in treating all people with dignity and respect. We would like to take this opportunity to communicate specifically to our students of color to let you know that WE SEE YOU, WE VALUE YOU and WE ARE LISTENING.
As counselors, we are committed to the service of others and to the advocacy of all students' rights. We fully embrace cultural diversity and help to ensure a welcoming school environment for all. We will fight for equal treatment and acceptance for all of our students regardless of national origin, gender/gender identity, color, religion, socio-economic stratum and sexual orientation. We are your advocates! We are here to create a safe, respectful, nondiscriminatory school environment!
Through the curriculum of a school counseling program for next year, school counselors are prepared to talk to students about race issues, anti-racism and social justice. Below are links to some articles on the topic of equality that we thought might be helpful. This is a lot to process and take in. We encourage you to reach out with any questions or concerns that you may have on the issue of racial inequality or if you just need someone to listen to you.

Teaching Tolerance: Race & Equality
Let’s start the conversation!
What were your initial thoughts and feelings when you heard about what happened to George Floyd?
Do you see people talking about this issue on the news, on social media or among your friends? What impact has that had on you?
What can each of us do as individuals to stop the escalation of bias and hate? What can we do on a societal level?
What can we do to help? What actions might make a difference?
Reach out to your school counselor to have a further conversation. Don’t be silent.
Congrats to the Class of 2020!!
