What a wonderful week!
We started to dive into our curriculum and they are ready to show me their best first grade work!

Growth Mindset Activities
Literacy Centers
I also worked one on one with the students completing reading assessments so we will be ready to go with our differentiated reading groups next week. Each student will be in a flexible reading group and read a book based on the genre we are focusing on for the week. We will read for comprehension and fluency. Focusing on the story elements ( characters, setting and plot) and more! We will learn the steps to being a good reader and how to problem solve a word we don't know how to read.

Writing Workshop
This week we focused on writing about something we are good at! The students really impressed me with all of their skills!
Trey is busy brainstorming all of the things he is good!
Chase is writing about how he is a smart cookie!
The students made emotion masks in art class! We love to see their expression even behind their masks!

- We will learn the new sight words : way, come, my, on, in
- We will focus on short a words in phonics

- We will learn how to write a realistic fiction story about animals
- We will learn how to join. numbers together in math
- We will learn about animals in STEM and how they use their different body to help you survive.
