Weekend Wisdom
Tip for the week, helping you cross that bridge to success!
What are you going to do with that exception to the rule?
As you have seen, as we learn each new grammar point, there are always a few exceptions to the rule.
- Primero changes to primer when it comes before a masculine word, piso, libro, etc. But if it is the 1st of the month, it is still primero.
- Tercero, tercer, tercera does the same thing, although not used with a date
- When stating the hour, we use "Son las..." unless it is 1:00, where we say "Es la..."
And the list goes on and on, but will be different for each of you. These exceptions are BIG TARGETS for quiz and text questions, so.....what to do to learn them?
Make a quizlet set. Put the words you get WRONG on quizzes in there!
After taking a quiz, or while taking notes, when you see one of those things that stumps you, have your Quizlet set open and add it to the set. Then you have a one stop shop for reviewing and you don't waste time going over what you already know.
Or, keep a notebook or special section for EXCEPTIONS or THINGS THAT STUMP ME. Believe me, this is where you want to spend your review time.
