Where Excellence is the Standard - Week of February 21, 2022
RANDLE HIGH SCHOOL UPDATE
Dear Lions,
The fourth six-weeks ended Friday and Monday, February 21st, marks the start of a new six weeks. This means that all tardies will be wiped clean. As a reminder for all parents and students I would like to review the campus tardy policy.
Randle Tardy Policy:
0-4 No Penalty Warning
5-8 Saturday Detention (Failure to attend will result in ISS). Receiving ISS will negatively affect spring exemptions.
9 - 11 ISS 3 Days (Loss of exemptions) - Administrator parent phone conference
12 or more tardies may result in out of school suspension.
I would also like to take a moment to discuss the our Randle BLITZ program for identified students. In order to help our students who are currently struggling in English Language Arts we are creating a "BLITZ" program. These students have been identified based on achievement data through out the year. The following data has been used to identify students in need of support.
- MAP Beginning of the year (BOY) assessment
- LCISD - Progress Monitoring Assessment (PMA)
- MAP Middle of the year (MOY) assessment
- Teacher developed common assessment
- Up coming district benchmark exams
Many students have demonstrated academic growth throughout the year, but with district benchmarks, and state end of course exams around the corner, we would like to provide small group intense tutoring. We believe the best time to capture students is when they are on campus.
Tutoring sessions will take place one day per week (2.5 hours each session). Each session will focus on the skills needed to demonstrate proficiency on the STAAR EOC. Our goal is to have every student pass the STAAR EOC on their first attempt. If students pass on their first attempt, they will never have to take another STAAR EOC in that subject. English I and English II sessions will begin this week. More specific information will be sent to the individual parents of the students selected.
Finally, we will be administering the district benchmark exams this week. The benchmark exams will mirror the STAAR EOC exams. Students will have an opportunity to demonstrate proficiency before we begin our STAAR EOC Blitz and Bootcamps. I ask that you speak to your students and stress the importance of taking this test seriously and doing their very best.
