Update April 13, 2020
Welcome Parker
We Are On a Roll!
So what's next?
We have had many requests to fine tune the art of making and distributing pre-recorded videos; tools to share information and getting student feedback that are less text based. Some of our students are minimalist, they may talk up a storm but not write a lot without that over the shoulder nudging.
We will be offering PD webinars on these topics this week. Be on the look out for the schedule that will be arriving in your email. We will be highlighting a few additional tools in this week's update. As always please don't forget to check out our staff resource pages as they are updated often.
SeeSaw
SeeSaw has been used by K-5 teachers across the district as a way to collect work samples.
Seesaw allows teachers to create class assignments, record directions, provide student feedback and send family communications. Seesaw allows students to “show what they know” using photos, videos, drawings, text, and links. The Activity Library hosts a variety of standard based activities for all grade levels, and the Help Center provides lots of support.
Seesaw’s step-by-step grade-specific Get Started Guides have everything you need to introduce Seesaw to your students.Nearpod
Nearpod allows teachers to create interactive lessons by importing existing lessons (pdfs, jpegs, ppts) and adding Virtual Field Trips, Collaborate boards, Quizzes, Polls, and more. Nearpod integrates with google slides, drive and classroom. It works with schoology as well just as other google products. Nearpod has the option to present the lesson live or to turn each presentation to “student-paced” so students can work at their own pace, at home or in the classroom.
Check out What is Nearpod? and How it Works.
Kahoot!
Kahoot! has been used for several year across the district which many teachers are familiar. Kahoot! is a game-based learning platform, used at a variety of grade levels. Its learning games, "Kahoots", are user-generated multiple-choice quizzes that can be accessed via a web browser or the Kahoot app. They can be done in real time or self-paced challenges.
