In the summer of 2015 forest fires were raging out of control British Columbia’s wilderness interior. Near Kelowna BC forest fires are threatening small towns in the interior. There were more than 250 fires blazing, 43 more fires had started in one day following multiple thunderstorms. Many towns in the interior have been evacuated though there are many more people at risk. The reason for so many fires is that there has been little rain leaving the trees very dry and making it easy for fire to spread. So far the province has spent more than $140 million and will probably spent upward of $300 million.
This relates to our couse because for forest fires are a type of natural disaster
