School Closure Information
Hello, Willapa Valley Families
This update includes the latest information on our educational programs, food service plans, and other school district events. Again, thank you for your patience as we continue to navigate these truly remarkable circumstances.
First, I want recognize and thank all of our staff for the amazing work they have done these last several days. All are working to keep our school district offering student support in the best ways possible.
Educational Programs
Our educational resources can be found on our district website: www.willapavalley.org, where you will find Elementary Instructional Resources, Middle & High School Instructional Resources, and resources for our 12th grade Seniors. Our teachers are available on a daily basis through email, and many will be reaching out to students and families as needed. Chromebooks are available for lending. Please call the high school office (360-942-2006) to make arrangements for pick up.
Please encourage your children to remain active in their learning, and to focus daily on increasing their knowledge and skills. Also, please follow health department guidance and prevent exposure by following social distancing regulations and limiting unnecessary student-to-student contact outside the home.
Elementary Work Packets
Each Thursday, elementary staff will deliver new work packets to students' homes along with food delivery. So on Thursdays, food delivery routes may take a bit longer than usual. Today, Thursday, March 19, elementary staff drove through the district delivering their first set of instructional packets to all students in grades preschool through grade 5. These staff members have worked incredibly hard to compile these support materials and they were very excited to begin this outreach!
Food Service
Home delivery of student meals (breakfast and lunch) will begin on Friday, March 20. Deliveries will arrive between the hours of 10:00 AM and noon. Please be patient in the first few days of delivery as we get a routine established. Each day, meals will arrive that represent a student's lunch for the day and breakfast for the following morning. For now, we are planning on delivery every day. If you have questions, or you want to begin student meal delivery, call the district office at 360-942-5855.
Offices
For now, our school offices and the district office are remaining open with administrators reporting for work in our buildings. If the situation changes, we will let you know.
School Board Meeting
The regular school board meeting for March has been rescheduled to Monday, March 30, 2020 at the middle-high school. For now, the meetings will still be in-person events, though online meetings are allowed for school boards as well. The room location will be posted later as we figure out how much room we need to have the meeting and still observe social distancing rules.
Facility Closures
The weight room and gyms in our district remain closed to students and community members.
Thank you again for your patience as we implement these services and resources. As you know, conditions continue to change, and we will send updates to make sure you stay informed.
Thank you!
Nancy Morris
Superintendent
