The Mane Tail

Friday, November 5th, 2021

Dear Parents,

We are very excited to be celebrating Veterans Day next Friday, November 12th. We will be honoring our veterans in the front of the building at 8:00 a.m. Parents are welcome to stand in the grass behind the students to watch the ceremony. In the event of rain, we will move the veterans inside. We do not have enough room inside the building for all of our visitors so the event will be shown live on Zoom. The link is:

Veterans Day

The students and staff will be participating in a tribute to our veterans on Friday, November 12th. We will be gathering at 8:05 AM around the flagpole at the front of the school to recognize the importance of this day. We would like to invite any veterans that are able to attend on this morning. We will ask all veterans to stand and be recognized during part of our celebration. We would like for all honorees to arrive by 7:45 AM. You may take your seat outside or you may gather in the Art Room for a Meet & Greet. Parents are welcome to attend, but we ask that you stand behind the students. Since all 900 students will be in attendance, it will not be possible for parents to visit with their child during this time. In the event of rain, veterans will be moved inside and the observance will be "zoomed" for students and staff. If you would like for us to include a family member or friend, please use the form below to RSVP.

Please RSVP on if a veteran is attending.

Veteran Picture for Hero Wall

Dear Parents,

We are creating a Hero Wall to honor veterans, past and present, for Veterans Day. The Hero Wall will be displayed outside the library. If you would like to honor a veteran, please fill out the name plate below and return with a copy of a photograph of the veteran (preferably in uniform) by Wednesday, November 10th. A 5x7 or 8x10 size picture is ideal. If you are submitting the same picture from last year, please leave it mounted. The veteran in the picture does not need to be in attendance to be honored on our Hero Wall. Please include the name(s) of the students who are relatives of the honoree. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Kim Maxian at . Use the template below to submit your picture.

Nature Trails

Great news! We will make up our Nature Trails Day 2 (postponed due to weather) on Monday, December 13th. Students will bring home a new permission form for the new date. Remember, students will:

  • leave Sampson around 9am and return around 2pm
  • wear long pants (not leggings), socks, and closed-toe shoes for safety. In addition, keep the weather conditions in mind. Your child may need layers that can be added/removed for comfort.
  • bring a lunch in a container to keep insects out or purchase a box lunch from the cafeteria. Water bottles are recommended.

We look forward to a great day at the Trails!
