A Word From Ms. Haynes
Thank you to everyone who had their children/guests join us on Take Your Daughters and Sons to Work Day. They had a good time touring the campus to see some areas of the school they don't typically get to see. Ms. Atelus did a great job organizing and entertaining these youngsters.
We are in serious Crunch Time mode as final preparations are underway for our intermediate students for the FSA coming up over the next several months. Also, this week Ms. Atelus and the Assessment Team must begin the ACCESS testing. This test replaces the CELLA test for our ELL students. This is a new test, process, and procedure so please bear with us as we comply with the District mandate of completing this. Your patience and flexibility is appreciated.
I know and understand that the transition to the PC computers is giving us heart palpitations. I think back about 15 years ago when we received Apple computers and it was a shock then to get those. Over time, we adjusted and learned. This Wednesday, we will try to assist each other with the basic navigation of the system and hopefully help each other adapt. It will take several weeks before we become familiar with it. Later on in the year, we will receive direction on the new email system. Principals are tentatively set to migrate next month...I will let you know about the journey.
If you have not turned in your intentions, please do so. Budget season is underway and planning for 2016-2017 has started. I've spoken with some grade chairs regarding some inevitable changes that will happen among grade levels as I believe that it is important to be transparent. Nonetheless, grade placements are some time away as I await the proposed budget and budget conference slated for March. As information is made available, I will share out.
Have an AMAZING week!!

CURRICULUM CORNER
Guided Reading
In continuing this Curriculum Corner dedicated to Guided Reading you will see another video below of how Jenna manages this process in her classroom. As you know, a lot of this takes place at the beginning of the school year as you teach routines and processes to students. The video is short and gives some tips on how you can implement this effectively and efficiently.

Protocol for Notices Going Home: Update
A couple of updates to this based on questions this week:
- Please don't wait until the last minute to ask us to review notices. You need to give us at least a week's notice to take a look at them.
- Field trip coordinators planning field trips need to touch base with Mr. Favata during the planning phase to come up with letters to send home to parents regarding the trip. He has templates that you can use to customize for your trip.
- Please send notices electronically or turn in a final copy--we need to look at more than just the wording.
Thank you for your cooperation!!
