Erin's Law

Public schools in Illinois are required to provide Child sexual abuse prevention education to ur students yearly from PreK-12th grade. We have had the same presenter Victor Pacini present to kids in grade level appropriate assemblies. These will be on Friday November 11th throughout the school day. Please reach out if you have any questions of concerns.

Bus Evacuation Drill

Today, we had our Bus Evacuation Drill. Even though we don't have busses bringing most of our children to school, students will be on busses for field trips or going to the middle school for different events..so it's important that they understand what to do if there is an emergency on a bus.

Please Tell Us Your Thoughts

How has D123 formed meaningful learning partnerships with parents, families, and the broader learning community? School District 123 values the learning partnerships that are formed between our families, students and staff. Each year District 123 strives to ensure that all members of the learning community are able to connect with classrooms, and the school system in valuable and meaningful ways.

District 123 has intentionally created opportunities for connection including:

  • Meet & Greet Opportunities
  • School Open Houses
  • Family Conferences (In-Person, Virtual, and Telephone)
  • Remind, Seesaw, and Email Communication Tools
  • Individual Classroom Curricular Newsletters
  • Principal Tuesday Take Home Communication
District 123 is using ThoughtExchange so everyone has a chance to share their perspectives and understand what’s most important to our learning community. Please share your thoughts and then rate at least 20-30 of the thoughts that others have shared. Come back often until Nov 4, 2022 to rate new ideas. Your thoughts, ideas, and input are extremely valued and appreciated.

Trimester One Ends Friday November 11th

Our first trimester is almost here! That is really hard to believe! Report cards will be available in Skyward starting on Friday November 18th. Hard copies will not be sent home unless specifically requested by our families.

Phones in School

Many of our students have expensive phones that they bring to school. Parents want their children to have phones in order to communicate with their children on the way to or from school or in case of emergencies. Students are allowed to have phones in school AS LONG AS THEY ARE KEPT IN THEIR BACKPACKS. Please help us out and reiterate this with your children. If you need to communicate with your children or they need to communicate with you during the school day, that should happen with our school phones.

Thank You!

So many of you have reached out to me regarding my resignation at the end of this school year. Your words have meant the world to me. This was the hardest decision I have ever had to make, but really do feel like it is the best decision for me and my family. You and your kids hold a special place in my heart and as we go through the next 7 months, I will cherish the memories that we will still be making. Thank you for your kindness all these years.

PBIS Trimester One Celebration

The first trimester ends on Friday and to celebrate, we will be having our Trimester One Celebration! We will be pairing up our older kids with our younger kids and having some time together as a community doing fun things together. We haven't been able to do them the way we have wanted to the last coupe of years, so we are really excited to go back to bringing our kids together.

Traffic

Now that everyone will be coming back to school, our traffic issues will return as well. Please see the attached map for where to drop off and where you can park if you want to get out and walk your child to their line.

Here are some reminders for helping us get kids in and out of school safely:

  • PLEASE pull up as far as you can go when you are letting students out of the car.
  • PLEASE do not park across the street and have kids run across to get either to the school or back to your car.
  • PLEASE be patient as kids are getting out of the car.
  • PLEASE do not block the entrance and exit of the school parking lots and
  • PLEASE do not park in the driveway of St. Germaine School. (You may pull into the spots in their parking lot, but do not park in the driveway....except for next week...see above)

Breakfast and Lunch

Our school will be serving nutritious breakfast and lunch every school day. If you qualify, you can receive free or reduced lunches. Please call the office if you need information about how to qualify. The cost of breakfast is $1.50 and the cost of lunch is $3.05.

BREAKFAST will be served in the main hall of our school beginning at 8:10-8:25am. Students will enjoy their breakfast in our multi-purpose room and then will go to their line to start the day.

LUNCH will be ordered with your child's classroom teacher every morning. Students will be able to choose from 2 choices. Students can also bring a home lunch and only order a milk. Milk only is 60 cents and students can choose white or chocolate. You can add money to your child's meal account through Skyward. https://www.d123.org/departments/operations/lunch-menus

DOUBLE LUNCH Many of our older students like to order a double lunch. I ask if they have permission and they say they do... then parents are surprised that the lunch balance goes down so quickly. I have told our 4th and 5th grade students that they need to have permission to do this, so please speak to your children about this.

LUNCH TIMES:

Grade 5 eats from 11:00-11:25

Grades 3 and 4 eat from 11:25-11:50

Kindergarten eats from 11:55-12:20

Grades 1 and 2 eat from 12:20-12:45
