Get to Know Yannick Christos-Wahab

School Ministries of Birmingham is excited to introduce Mr. Yannick Christos-Wahab as the teacher who will lead our program's inaugural class at Spain Park High School in Hoover beginning in January 2016.

Born to Nigerian parents, Yannick was raised in a Christian household in London, England, before moving to his parent's homeland to attend boarding school for three years at the age of 10. There he encountered people from numerous backgrounds, cultures and faiths and really began to strengthen his Christian beliefs. He returned to London to finish his schooling before attending the University of Saint Andrews in Scotland.

At Saint Andrews, Yannick earned his degree in Theology and was named to the Dean's List three times during his tenure there. In 2012, he was awarded the William Watson Prize for best student in Greek and Hebrew, and in 2014, he followed that prestigious honor with another award, the G.S. Duncan Memorial Prize for best student in New Testament.

Yannick is currently pursuing his Master of Divinity at Beeson Divinity School at Samford University and is a recipient of the Dean's Scholarship, which is the highest scholarship offered by the school. In addition to his schooling, he serves as a Teaching Assistant and is also as a private tutor for Greek and Hebrew students.

Yannick's teaching and tutoring background is extensive and diverse. During the summers from 2011-2013, he worked at a residential summer school known as the High Achievers Tutoring Company, where he taught math to children ages 8-17. He then worked for Teach First, which is the UK's version of Teach for America, for the 2013-14 school year, where he was the only member of his team to earn an Outstanding rating for his teaching efforts. Most recently, he was a Green Scholar's Intern at the Tyndale House in Cambridge, where he was selected as a junior scholar who was privileged enough to work on Greek and Hebrew manuscripts with leading scholars throughout the world. While there, he also had the opportunity to work on the Green's Bible curriculum for high schoolers that is currently being used in Israel.

Please join us in extending a warm welcome to Yannick. The students at Spain Park are in for quite a treat with him at the helm of the School Ministries of Birmingham class, and they will be forever changed through their experiences with him and this program.
