A Message from Dr. Lambert

Good afternoon,

There are a few hours left in the PTO Kickoff Auction (until 10:00 PM tonight), and we have added a second opportunity for your child to be principal for the day. There are many other auction items as well, but that's the one I am most excited about. Check out additional information about the auction in the PTO section at the bottom of this newsletter.

In addition to the support that can be provided through contributions to the PTO, I hope each of us continues to encourage the use of masks. This is a strategy that we know worked to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19 last year. Each day this week, I have sent home COVID notifications. Working together, I know we can reduce the number of new cases in our community.

It seems that my theme for this message is support. So, here is one last way to support Bush Elementary. There are times when individuals and businesses ask about donating funds to the school. To facilitate these requests and to provide an opportunity for anyone interested in donating to the school, we have created an online donation form: https://conroeisd.schoolcashonline.com/Fee/Details/28219/195/False/True. Anyone who would like to donate directly to the school may do so through this link. All funds donated in this manner go toward supporting our Bobcat students and teachers.

As I mentioned in last week's message, please feel free to contact me (jlambert@conroeisd.net or 936-709-1600) if you or someone you know is interested in partnering with the school. Thank you for your continued support!

Take good care,

Dr. Jarod Lambert

Roadmap to Remaining Open

Conroe ISD's Roadmap to Remaining Open is available online at https://www.conroeisd.net/roadmap-to-reopening/. Please check back for up-to-date information. The site is updated as new information and guidance are received from the Texas Education Agency (TEA), the Governor's Office, and state and local officials.

Reminder: Transportation Changes

Transportation changes must be made in writing before 2:00 PM. We cannot accept transportation changes by phone. To submit a transportation change, you may send a written note to your child's teacher or provide a not to the front office with the following information:

  • the date
  • your child's full name
  • homeroom teacher
  • bus number (if applicable)
  • your signature

If an emergency arises, you may send an email to bush@conroeisd.net. The e-mail must include all of the above information, including a parent signature, and must be received before 2:00 PM. If you submit a transportation change by email, it must go to the email address referenced above. Teachers do not check their email regularly throughout the day, so transportation changes should not be emailed directly to the teacher.

Please send a new note for each day the change occurs; we cannot accept notes for multiple days or with multiple changes. District policy states that a student may only ride the bus they are registered to ride; students may not have a transportation change to ride a different bus.

Reminder: Forgotten Item Drop-off

Please help your student be fully prepared for their day by ensuring that they have all needed materials (i.e., backpack, lunch, and water bottle) as they arrive at school. We are unable to deliver lunches and water bottles to students. We will ensure that any student who forgot lunch is fed in the cafeteria, and we will provide water to any student who needs it.

If you need eye glasses delivered to your child, please bring them to the school. We will deliver them to your child immediately. Any class work, binders, or books dropped off at the school will be placed in the teacher's mailbox to be picked up during the day.

Delivery of flowers, balloons, and similar items students at school is not permitted.

Free School Breakfast and Lunch

The first regular school breakfast and lunch is free for every student in Conroe ISD this year. Additional meals can be purchased for $2.60 (breakfast) and $3.85 (lunch).

While meals are free during the school year, it is still very important for those who are eligible for free or reduced lunch to continue to submit the application during the registration or records update process. The number of students eligible for free or reduced lunch (whether they use that service or not) has the potential to affect the state accountability rating and funding for the school.

Throughout the year, different organizations come to Bush wanting to assist our students and families with school supplies, clothing, and other various needs. The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, a federal law that makes student educational records confidential, prohibits us from releasing student information to these agencies without your permission. To help us work with these groups in the most efficient way possible, we ask that if you are interested in such assistance, to complete this google form. Please complete this form only if you would like to receive assistance. Information submitted will go directly to the Bush counselor.

Assistance programs vary from year to year, giving us permission to release your information does not automatically mean you will receive assistance. It does let us know that you would welcome such assistance and would be willing to have your information released to these organizations. In turn, these groups agree to use your information only for the purpose of their assistance program(s). It is also required that your consent for release of information be updated annually. If you have a question, feel free to contact your me at amcghee@conroeisd.net
