Causes and Symptoms
Commonly caused by a violent blow to the head forcing the brain to hit the skull wall. Could also happen from a sudden whiplash movement. symptoms would be headaches, loss of consciousness, Amnesia\ confusion, dizziness, slurred speech, dazed or fatigued.
Field treatment
Take athlete out of play immediately and give them pain medicine such as Tylenol, and monitor the athletes behavior.
Hospital treatment
see physician before returning to play.
stats and prevention
1.8 to 3.6 sports related injuries are reported each year. some can be prevented by wearing good protective equipment during sports events.
