Principal's Update 2/9/18
All You Need is Love!
We were tickled pink by our 2nd graders in their tribute to love and friendship during the music program Thursday evening. Thank you again to Mrs. Gibbs and Mrs. Clawson for providing excellent music education for all of our Leopards. We "loved" the program!
Counselor Appreciation Week
We are fortunate to have three professional, experienced school guidance counselors at Elsa England. Mrs. Robinson, Mrs. Johnson, and Mrs. Dainton are treasured by our staff and students!
Board Member Mason Moses
Mr. Moses joined our 2nd grade classes as a guest reader on Friday. We appreciate the support at the campus level from all of our district leadership. RRISD One Family! Thank you Mr. Moses.
Chess Champs!
Elsa England chess students earned 2nd place in a K-5 tournament at Casis Elementary. Congratulations to the following students:

Angela Holcek Teacher of the Year
Congratulations to Angela Holcek, Elsa England's 2019 Teacher of the Year! Ms. Holcek was selected by her peers for this honor. Ms. Holcek teaches 2nd grade at our school, and she is also a Student Council Sponsor for our 3rd-5th graders. As a Student Council co-sponsor Ms. Holcek has guided many students through meaningful service projects. Ms. Holcek's colleagues respect her love for learning and her leadership in curriculum and instruction. Ms. Holcek is also active in many organizations including The Heart of Texas Writing Project and The Texas Book Festival. Most of all we honor Ms. Holcek for her sincere commitment to her students and families. She has a heart for children!
Flu Season Reminders
It's not over yet! Flu is still wide-spread in our community, and more cases were confirmed with students and staff this week. Please keep your children home if they are sick. Children should not be in school unless they've been fever-free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medication.

- 15: STEAM Night at Pearson Ranch M.S. 5:30 - 7:30 p.m..
- 19 and 20: No School For Students (2 days of Professional Development for Staff)
- 20: PDQ School Spirit Night 4:00-9:00 p.m.
- 26: Cedar Valley Parent Night for Incoming 6th Graders 6:00 - 7:00 p.m.
Reminders and Announcements
Absences due to Illness: Please send in a parent's or doctor's note within 48 hours of the absence.
Dismissal: Thank you for assisting with any measures we put in place to ensure the safety and security of your children. Please notify me when you spot areas of concern that need to be addressed.
Career Fair Presenters Needed: Please see the attached flyer to sign up for our annual Career Fair at Elsa England. Our students love talking to community and parent partners about college and career choices.
