What is Asbestos?
Asbestos is a naturally occurring mineral that was once used in construction. Asbestos was thought to make everything better but what people did not know was that asbestos is highly toxic. There are six types of asbestos: chrysotile, amosite, crocidolite, tremolite, anthophyllite, actinolite.
Many places will have warning signs if asbestos is a problem or if asbestos is being removed.
Asbestos is known to come from different types of rocks.
Asbestos in the Ceiling
Asbestos can be found in ceilings of homes.
Where Can Asbestos Be Found?
Asbestos in Houses
Asbestos can be found in houses built from the 1940s through the 1970s. Asbestos can be found in floor tiles, window caulking, roofing materials, insulation, ceilings, plaster, roof shingles, pipe cement, and joint compounds. Asbestos is highly toxic and if a house has been built between the 1940s and 1970s, the house should be checked for asbestos.
