Grant-Supported Invitation for Proposals and Community Collaboration
WHPS Inspires Equity
Thanks to the support of the Foundation for West Hartford Public Schools, the WHPS Office of Equity Advancement is seeking to collaborate with our educators and community partners on student engagement projects that explore and promote racial equity and social justice problems and solutions of the local community. Projects should allow students to further appreciate collaboration across diversity, apply critical thinking and serve as cultural agents of positive change. Project ideas include:
curricula that best supports equity and anti-racism education in West Hartford Public Schools.
programs that target racial justice and efforts to end discrimination.
projects, instructional/curricular materials and collections focused on teaching racial diversity, justice and cultural competency to students
Actively engages students and inspires them to obtain deeper knowledge of ways to promote a more equitable, inclusive and just community

History is Colorful
A project developed by I AM NOT A Virus, in consultation with CPCWH. The project is seeking to expose students to local individuals who are involved in sustainable agriculture from diverse backgrounds. In particular, the project focused on telling the stories of farmers in the BIPOC community to offer young people the opportunity to see individuals from the BIPOC community in roles more traditionally viewed as held by white adults.
