What kind of animals are koalas

koalas belong to a group of animals called marsupials. A marsupial is an animal with a pouch. The word koala is an Aboriginal word meaning 'no drink'.


Koalas have small beady eyes and grey furry bodies. They have flat black noses and big bushy ears.They have small but extremely sharp claws


Most koalas live in the Australian bush and they sleep in a gum tree.

What they eat

A koala eats gum leaves from a gum tree. They do not eat anything else but gum leaves.

What they do

Koalas do all sorts of things like climbing trees jumping from tree to tree and sleeping at day time.

How they are looked after

Koalas are looked after in they mothers pouch.They ride on their mothers back.
