Building Thinking Classrooms
Building Thinking Classrooms is the result of over 10 years of research by Dr. Peter Liljedahl. If you missed the virtual summit in November, you can now listen to Peter's interview here for FREE!
Join us here @OS to experience the Building Thinking Classroom research on high leverage practices that promote problem solving, questioning, and thinking along with accessible routines and grouping protocols that will increase opportunities for diverse learners. Jackie, a middle school teacher from Clarenceville, will share her BTC implementation story. Co-teaching is not a requirement to attend, all secondary teachers are welcome. Our next full day training is December 18th and there are only 5 spots left, register here. Coming Summer 2020 - BTC2 featuring: note-taking, questioning, retrieval practice, and memory strategies.

A little brain science
My favorite research topics at the moment are the cognitive science and retrieval practice. I'm fascinated with learning how to help students (and adults coming to professional learning) to retain and use the experiences and information we share. Here's a recent podcast and article from the Cult of Pedagogy with 6 Powerful Learning Strategies You Must Share With Students.
Essential Elements Middle School
Our draft version of the Middle School Essential Elements Math Curriculum is ready for you to take a peek. There are daily and rotating routines along with a scope and sequence for the year with unit plans covering all of the 6th-8th grade Essential Elements. Check out the MS EE Routine Planner and email me for access to the Atlas site with all of the standards alignment documents. Updates will continue to be made, so keep checking back. Special thanks to Jeannine & Terri for all of their time, effort, and expertise. I'll be looking for some HS and elementary friends to help with those levels soon.
