Principal's Message
It was great seeing so many of you at our parent teacher conferences. We truly appreciate your attendance and know it makes a huge difference in your child’s success.
Speaking of success, many of you know by now that McMillan Elementary received the National Blue Ribbon award for being an “Exemplary High Performing School.” We share the credit for this recognition with all of you, our students, and staff. Education is a challenging field to be in, so I want to extend a heartfelt appreciate to our teachers. The hard work, time, and dedication they put toward extending their learning, sharing their talents, and providing what every child needs to succeed is truly exceptional. THANK YOU!
I am truly grateful for the privilege I have in working with all of you, students, parents, staff, and teachers! YOU ARE THE BEST!
Joy Sanford, Principal

Patriotic Assembly
We would like to invite any family members who have served or who are active duty in any of the five branches of the military to join us during our Patriotic Assembly so that we can honor them! This includes parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, siblings, and even special friends who have served. If you have any veteran or active military relatives who would like to attend, tell them to mark their calendars for Friday, November 8 at 8:45 a.m. in the school gym. Thank you!
Spelling Bee 2020
The 2020 Spelling Bee word lists are now available online at murrayspellingbee.com. The website also gives information on the Spelling bees as well as the rules, etc. Class bees will be coming up in January, so now is the time to get the lists and start studying. Everyone will be competing in their own classroom bee. McMillan has some amazing spellers! Good luck to everyone.
Box Tops
Please bring in your Box Tops to school. Our next submission date is Oct 31st. Box Tops is phasing out the cut outs and has created an app. Download the app on your smartphone and select McMillan Elementary. Every time you visit the grocery store you upload your receipt and it will automatically find the participating items and credit the school.
Move It Program
The Move It Program works with TOSH in promoting and encouraging a healthier lifestyle. We have a nutrition based activity that is led by a dietitian and her students. This program is scheduled every first Tuesday of the month during lunch recess teaches kids a hands-on approach in making healthier food choices and participate in fun activities. A physical therapist from TOSH comes to help along with PTA parents ever 3rd Thursday. The students are taught different games to play in an organized manner as well as provide outdoor physical activities regardless of weather. Volunteers are welcome for both activities, however, parents are needed particularly for the the nutrition portion of the program on Tuesdays. Classic Fun Center also falls under this program. All McMillan friends and family are welcome and have free admission for those two nights of the year. Upcoming Move It Days: 12-1 Outside of the Library: Nov 5, Jan 7, Feb 4, Mar 3, April 7, May 5
