And as for the one who recites with difficulty, stammering or stumbling through its verses, then he will have TWICE that reward.” [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]
Recap Of Past Events
Jazak'Allah khayran to our IAW Director Hamna Syeda for organizing an amazing IAW! This year we changed things up a little and moved the event to the first semester. It was a week packed with activities as well as speakers. Our theme this year was the five pillars of Islam. We had the honour of having Imam Hosam Helal and Daood Butt come to our University and talk in detail about some of the pillars of Islam. In addition, Jazak'Allah khayran to Imam Sufyan for visiting us on a Friday and being an amazing support to our MSA. This year we decided to move out of the UC Courtyard to branch out to more areas. On Wednesday, we had our IAW event in front of the Raithby House Porch across from the cannon. Also, for the first time this year our team decided to reach people outside of the University. We had two groups of brothers and sisters volunteer at the Food Bank on Thursday. Finally, we also decided to host a Fast-a-Thon as part of the fasting pillar of Islam. Alhumdulillah it was a great event filled with reflections, questions and deep conversations. On Friday we had a sister take her Shahadah during the Jummah prayer. Please keep her and the team in your duas.
First of all a big thank you goes out to everyone that came out and joined us for a night of celebration. It was truly heartwarming to see everyone in such high spirits gathered together under one roof and sharing a special night with guest speakers, a beautiful Qur'an recitation and not to forget our wonderful MC's that never failed to keep things lively. October Speaker Night
Who would have thought that we would be discussing the teachings of Yoda at the MSA's first Speaker Night held on October 9. "What will you find in the cave? Only what you take with you," is the phrase that Sheikh Usman Qamar started the night with. The topic of the Speaker Night was "The Introduction to the Study of Prophet Muhammad's Biography." Listening to the Sheikh was such a honor as his passion and love for Islam could be felt in the room.
