Cool Cat News
Principal Brief
February 5-9
Cool Cats,
It takes a village and I am glad I am apart of the Hartman Village! Our students learned so much on our Wylie Way Day! Thanks for making this special day come alive for our students. The experiences you give our Cool Cats are like no other. The Wylie Way team did a fantastic job of writing lessons and decorating. The rotation and student services team had awesome rotations planned and made some cool candy themed props! All of our teachers- had the huge job of maintaining balance and implementing lessons while their students were full of excitement and hyped up on sugar! We all worked together to give our students an experience they will never forget!
Our PLC leaders had time this week to reflect on PLC goals. The most important thing in PLC's is to be collaborative and discuss how we can help kids grow. Be cautious of spending to much time with the many reasons why students can't and more time with solutions to help. This is where collaboration is so important- your ideas together are so much more powerful than individual solutions. Thanks for staying focused on what is in our power to control - the instruction and interventions that each student receives!
A few weeks ago, Mr. Winn called about having one Pre-k section and one PPCD section move to Birmingham. This is no longer the case. All Pre-k sections and PPCD sections will stay at Hartman for the 2018-2019 school year. If for some reason our classes become full, there might be a section added to Birmingham at that time due to lack of room at Hartman.
On Fridays starting in April we will have the GRIT Olympics for third and fourth grade students that reach their goals that week. If you would like to purchase an Olympic STAAR shirt to wear on testing days as well and on other days please use this link to order: https://goo.gl/forms/NlaUTcUB0eNWlGNI2
The Olympics are starting soon- and this is a great learning opportunity for kids, especially as we focus on grit this nine weeks. in your boxes next week, you will find blank medals where parents write about what makes their student a gold medal kid. I will also have some extras, in case you want your students to write their own gold medal goals on them. One of my favorite books is Tacky and the Winter Games- if you would like for me to read it to your class let me know.
I will be out on Friday, February 16, I am having oral surgery and they are taking my wisdom teeth out at the same time. I have to be on liquids only for several weeks afterwards - I love food and this will be hard for me!
Thanks,
Shawna #proudprincipal #hartmanpride #nbrs2017
