Schedule Pickup
In the afternoon, 7th and 8th graders may come up from 1:00-3:00 to pickup their schedules. However, PASS will be updated by the end of the day, August 18, and students may access their schedule this way.
First Day of School
Where students congregate, as they enter the building in the morning, has changed for this school year. The building is open for students beginning at 7:15. Students are to enter through the main doors - Door A- and will report to the following areas:
6th Grade: Auditorium (Sit in upper section)
7th Grade: Seated in the gym bleachers (stay off the gym floor)
8th Grade: Upper and Lower Commons (Students are to be seated)
This will allow for students to be spread out among their grade-level peers and reduce the volume of students concentrated in one area.
To begin the school day:
- 6 Grade students will remain in the Auditorium
- 7 Grade students will report to their 1st period class when dismissed at 7:45.
- 8 Grade students will report to their 2nd period class.
There will be plenty of staff members on hand to assist students.
Traffic Patterns: Drop-Off / Pick-Up
Here are the procedures for drop off and pick up:
- Parents will drop off and pick up in the south parking lot.
- You will ONLY enter at the traffic light at Pearl.
- Immediately after pulling into the lot, turn left into the south lot. Please be mindful of the buses who may be crossing your path to exit. While you will have the right of way entering the parking lot (buses have a stop sign), please take caution.
- Stay curb side all the way until you reach the building and drop off/pick up your child. Please pull all the way to the stop sign before dropping off as to allow for a smoother flow of traffic.
Dismissal
Staff will be on hand, daily, to help students find their bus each day.

SMS PTA UPDATE
Welcome to SMS! We hope you'll consider joining - or renewing your membership to - SMS PTA this year.
We are currently working on a fully electronic process to join PTA, but the form is still under construction. We will send the link out as soon as it is available. We will also have a Membership table at schedule pick-up this Friday and at each of the open house nights.
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY - Mr. Deitrick is looking for a few volunteers to help with schedule pick-up this Friday. You will be helping to distribute schedules to 6th graders at 9-11am or to 7th & 8th graders at 1-3pm. Please use this link to volunteer --> Schedule Pick-Up Volunteers
