Below is Brant Blodgett’s annual appeal that under “normal” circumstances he would have given this weekend at Church.

Hello, I’m Brant Blodgett, President of St Agatha’s Conference of the Society of St Vincent de Paul.

We are one of 50 Conferences in the Portland Council.

We help people in need with emergency food, assistance with rent & utility payments and occasionally other needs too.

Wow, what a year 2020 has been! Did you know that the Society of St Vincent de Paul didn’t stop working during this entire pandemic year? Our group of volunteers continued serving people by taking reasonable precautions and trusting in God that we were doing the right thing.

If you have supported or joined our organization in the past or present – we say a big THANK YOU.

The needs continue each day of each month of each year! We work at it almost every day.

If you haven’t supported our organization in the past, please consider joining us now.

We spent almost $2,000 on rent assistance, $3,800 on utility assistance and purchased $11,000 of food this past year.

We helped 309 families and 679 people this past year.

As I’ve said before, we don’t serve those in need because they are Catholic. We serve those in need because we are catholic.

Our two biggest areas of need are:

1) able-bodied volunteers to pack and deliver food boxes and 2) financial support to keep food on the shelves and the ability to help the needy with payments.

Please consider joining us.

Call, email or text me with any questions.

Mail donations to the St Agatha Office at 1430 SE Nehalem St., Portland OR 97202

Attention: SVDP ST AGATHA One last thing…..How do you live your faith in Jesus? Did Jesus ask us to just be nice to others and keep to ourselves? Or did he command us to love our neighbor as ourselves?

Joining SVdP is one tangible way to live out your faith in Jesus and follow His commands to feed, clothe and provide warmth to the poor.

They are waiting right here, in this neighborhood, for your visit and offer of hope.
