The "WHY"
Rationale For Staff and School
- Establishing a reputation as a school with a quality teaching staff (enrolment goes up?)
- Creating a sense of community and building connections among staff members
- Relevant and current teaching practices are being discussed - challenging "old school" methods
- Improving ourselves as educators
- Modelling lifelong learning
- Trying new things and documenting our progress in a way that is safe and comfortable, but also new and challenging.
- The opportunity for mutually beneficial mentorship among new and experienced teachers
- Many people don't make great use of professional development days for whatever reason, perhaps the availability of this collaborative learning group and the "opt-in" whenever approach will help change that

Personal Rationale
(Picture to the left is me running with my VP and one of the most influential educators I have come across, Nadine Naughton)
- I enjoy learning from other's tried and true methods
- The year I made professional connections with quality teachers my classroom forever changed for the better.
- Professional development is not static. One must continue to explore new ideas to improve on past pedagogy.
- I enjoy sharing my experiences and new findings with others who share in my enthusiasm for teaching.
- Establishing a group that creates and works together allows for shared success and shared failures. Talking through with alternate perspectives can be the thing that helps create more success in the classroom.
