A scandal uncovered after investigations in 1987 revealed that the US had been selling weapons to the anti-American government in Iran (to help secure the release of American hostages) and had been using the profits from these sales to secretly and illegally finance the Contras in Nicaragua. Oliver North had organized the operation from within the White house but there was no proof that Reagan was aware of North's actions.

Fall of the Berlin Wall
In 1961, the Berlin Wall was built by the German Democratic Republic, to divide West Berlin from East Berlin. The wall prevented East Germans from fleeing to West Germany. Three decades later the wall was torn down. When the Soviet Union fell, East Germany was no longer communist. On November 1989 East German government announced that all East Germans can visit West Berlin. Many people came to the wall to tear it down. There is belief that the wall's actual deconstruction did not began until 1990. The fall of the Berlin wall brought together friends and family and of course Berlin itself.
