Election of 2008
The election of 2008 was a major turning point and also a very very big statement in Americas voting and history. Barack Obama, the democratic primary, and John McCain, the republican primary, were battling it out. Barack Obama won the election by a pretty good amount and he was the very first African American voted into office or just to be in office.
9/11
19 militants that were associated with the Islamic extremist group al-Qaeda hijacked four planes started suicide attacks against targets in the United States. Two of the planes were flown into the towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, a third plane hit the Pentagon just outside Washington, D.C., and the fourth plane crashed in a field in Pennsylvania.
Iraq War
The Iraq started in 2003, it began because of of suspension of weapons of massive destruction in Iraq. The US withdrew forces in 2011. The protracted war between these neighboring Middle Eastern countries resulted in at least half a million casualties and several billion dollars’ worth of damages, but no real gains by other side.
