Fire Mesa Counseling Connection
Week of August 31, 2020
Dear Fire Mesa Families,
We made it through the first week of distance learning! Whether you feel like you rocked it last week, had your share of mental breakdowns, or still don't know what Zoom or Google Classroom is - we are in this TOGETHER!
In the newsletter this week, I wanted to focus on how you, as parents, can help your children be successful during this time. To do this, I am focusing on a concept known as Growth Mindset, creating routines, taking breaks, and tips to keep your children motivated.
There is a lot of information in this newsletter, but I hope that you can use it as a resource to come back to when you need some tips or advice.
Week 2 - we've got this! :)
Sincerely,
Mrs. Howard
Growth Mindset
Developing growth mindsets in our students (and ourselves!) is so important to get through challenging times. Our entire staff is working on this concept in their classrooms, and I wanted to share some information that will be useful to our parents in using growth mindset to help their children at home.
Distance Learning Tips
We know that MANY of our students need to take frequent breaks in order to build their stamina to make it through the entire school day, and that is OK! The presentation also has information about why breaks are important, how to recognize the need for a break, and what to do during a break. Remember, it is OK to step away from the computer for a few minutes!
