Ellis Island

Ellis Island is an immigration station that served for 60 years, it was used during the late 1800s and early 1900s, its location is in New York City in the United States. There are ways they use it and how they are used.

What is It for?

Ellis Island is for immigrants from different countries in the world, the immigrants come to Ellis Island to enter the United States. It was the only way into the United states during the late 1800s and early 1900s.

How do they use it?

On Ellis Island, doctors and investigators determine whether immigrants should be allowed in the United States. Most immigrants were given permission to enter the United States. Some immigrants were seen as trouble makers. But the immigrants that were very ill or very disabled where turned away, they waited for ships to take them back to their original homelands.

Do they still use it?

They do not use Ellis Island anymore, it closed on 1954 and the last immigrant to pass was Arne Peterssen. Ellis Island today is used for a tourist center in 1976.But in 1990, Ellis Island reopened as a museum.

So those are ways that workers use it and how they use it. Ellis Island was the place where immigrants from different countries come to in the late 1800s and early 1900s. This was the way immigrants enter the United States
