A consultant from Box Cars and One-Eyed Jacks will present four half-day sessions on August 2 and 3. Come join us to learn new activities to incorporate into your math instruction and network with teachers from area schools. Although there is no cost to participate in any of these sessions, you do need to register. There are limited spots for each workshop. You will be notified if a session becomes full. Come to as many sessions as you would like!

Place Value and Operations - Grades 2-5
Tuesday, August 2 8:30-11:30
This session will focus on games using a variety of materials that focus on place value and operations skills and concepts for upper elementary grades. Strategies for differentiation will be included.
Stratedice Trays - Grades K-5
Tuesday, August 2 12:30-3:30
This session will focus on games using the stratedice trays. Stratedice trays are sets of 6-sided dice in blue and white that lend themselves to a variety of activities. Explanations will be given on how different games and activities are played and modified to apply to skills in grades K-5.
Fun in First Grade
Wednesday, August 3 8:30-11:30
This session will focus on games that reinforce essential 1st grade math skills. Special attention will be given to those skills introduced at the beginning of the year so you will have ideas to implement during the first weeks of school. While this session is intended for 1st grade teachers, teachers of other grade levels are welcome to attend.
Shuffling Into Math - grades PreK - 2nd
Wednesday, August 3 12:30-3:30
This session will focus on a variety of games and activities using cards and dice. You will be shown games that can be played individually, in partners, or in small or large groups that allow students to practice important early math skills.
Visit the Box Cars and One-Eyed Jacks website for information on their books and manipulatives. Ordering information for books and materials used during the sessions will be available at the workshops.
