Genetically Modified Organisms
By: Esther Sim
Benefits for Health
-produced with less or no chemicals
-genetically modified to have more nutrients and vitamins
-resistant to diseases that are caused by bacteria, fungi and viruses
Examples of genetically modified crops
-sweet corn
-long lasting tomatoes
-golden rice
Benefits for Farmers
-because the crops do not need many chemicals to produce them, it is cheaper to grow the GM crops
-plants can be genetically modified to grow in climates that they normally wouldn't be able to grow in, so the farmers can plant them year long, in any climate
Benefits for Environment
-when using chemicals while farming, it can often get into the community's water system and pollute it, but GMO crops do not use chemicals resulting in cleaner water and healthier community
