District Solo and Ensemble
Saturday, February 29th @ LONGFELLOW MIDDLE SCHOOL
The location for our Solo and Ensemble Festival has been moved this year to Longfellow Middle School. Please DO NOT go to West High School this year!
All of our Band students are required to participate in a large ensemble for Solo and Ensemble. Please make sure this date is on your calendar.
Note: All groups should report to the Rec Room (room 124) to Warm-up. Mr. Krubsack and Mr. Wampfler will be bringing all of the Large Group Judge’s Copies to Longfellow Middle School.
If you are performing a solo, duet, or trio; be sure to bring an original copy for the adjudicator as well as your own copy. Set an arrival time for the members of your duet or trio. Plan to arrive at least 30-45 minutes before your first scheduled event.
All Large Ensembles will meet in the Rec Room (room 124) at the designated report time listed below.
Your large Ensembles always take precedent over other events.
Don’t forget to take your instrument home on Friday.
The East Band room WILL NOT be open on Saturday.
Plan accordingly to transport your instrument home on Friday as well as to Longfellow on Saturday. Instruments must be returned to school on Monday.
This is a “dress-up” event. Concert Attire is appropriate.
For example:
-Men wear Dress Pants and a Dress Shirt no Tennis Shoes or Jeans
-Women wear Skirt (knee length), Dress Pants, Dress Shirt, No Tennis Shoes or Jeans.
All attire must adhere to the district’s dress code.
Concessions will be available.

Dear Tosa East high School Band Families,
On Saturday, February 29th, Longfellow will host the WSMA Solo & Ensemble Festival. In order to make this event a successful and memorable experience for our students, we will need volunteers to serve as room monitors and office workers. We are looking for volunteers who can help for the day or half-day, but even those who can spare a few hours will be greatly appreciated.
Please follow THIS LINK to sign up.

Summer Grant Application
The Red Raider Band Boosters will offer grants to director-approved summer music camps. Students in the band program who have completed grades 9, 10, 11 and are enrolled in the course for the next school year are eligible. Drum Majors, Color Guard Captains and Percussion Captains are required to attend Music For All Summer Music Symposium.
The Band Boosters budget for grants is based on the number of applicants and fundraising revenue. Band Boosters will award the grants in autumn of 2020-21 school year. Reimbursement is dependent on when revenue is available in the Band Booster treasury. We are excited to announce that an alumni has made a $5000 donation in the
name of former Band Director Orville Matthias. He requested that we specifically allocate $500 annually towards
our Summer Grant program. This is in addition to the amount the Band Boosters allocates annually.
Each applicant who applies before the deadline and submits proof of attendance will receive at least a partial grant. This is not a competition. Applicants are eligible for one grant per school year. Registration fees for MYSO and UWM Youth Wind Ensemble and trips do not qualify. Unused money allocated to the grant program will revert back to the Band Boosters general fund. These guidelines may be amended by a majority vote of the Band Boosters Board to reflect the financial status and philosophy of the organization as well as the changing needs of the students and the band program.
