IN THE KNOW....

(You Are!)

This Week's Shout OUTS:

  • Joan is AMAZING! Yesterday she drove Layla Johnson's first lost tooth to their house after she finished working at after school program. This act of kindness went above and beyond! Layla's mother was so touched by her kindness!!!! ABOVE AND BEYOND RIGHT THERE

  • We welcome back Catherine and Chris! We are so glad to have you back with us!

  • Our custodians who worked so hard while we were off to wax our floors!
  • K-3 teachers for jumpring right in with mClass assessing!
  • Cathy for getting us organized for SRI testing!
  • Diania Mirian for taking on 2nd grade's TRC bear!
  • Chester, the hamster in Ms. Demolet's class, made it into the holiday pet slideshow for WRAL!
  • Kayleigh and Rebekad D. who fired off a grant application six months ago and received word this week that it is funded!!! - $2000 from Lowe's Home Improvement for collaboratory supplies, gardening tools, etc!!!
  • To our school as a whole who truly cares about the whole child. Witnessed one of my students receive a winter coat today, thanks to Ashlee and Judith for making that happen, and his simple comment about having a "puffy" jacket was simply heartbreaking. It's wonderful to work at a place where we make things happen for children more than just academics. (AMEN TO THAT)

PES Core Beliefs

  • Everyone is of value and has a gift to share.
  • We each learn at a different pace.
  • Everyone deserves a quality education.
  • Relationships are key.
  • Teaching the whole child is essential.
  • Every child deserves a fair chance.
