COVID 19-Travel Restrictions-Lifted for Domestic Travel
As of March 1, 2021, the Order of the Secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Health for Mitigation Relating To Travel is no longer in effect. Travelers should still practice appropriate public health measures to slow the spread of COVID-19 such as masking, physical distancing, and hand hygiene. The Department has FAQs specific to travel that can be found here.
If you are traveling internationally please follow the protocol set up by the Montgomery County Health department found here
The nurse will then tell you when your child may return to school in person. The Covid-19 School Exclusion Recommendations from the Montgomery County Department of Health can be found here. We follow these recommendations when excluding a student from school for illness or exposure to a Covid positive close contact.
Important Reminders of Daily Health and Safety
- Maintain safe distancing at all times. Students should not congregate at any time.
- Masks need to be worn at all times and cover from the bridge of the nose to under the chin. The only exceptions are while eating or while outside at the direction of a teacher.
- Student drivers should wear a mask when they exit their car in the morning and should only remove a mask while back in their car in the afternoon.
- Bus riders need to wear a mask at all times.
- Wear a glove during the cleaning process.
- Use hand sanitizer at the beginning and end of each class, and throughout the day follow hand-washing guidelines as needed.
- Follow the directional arrows throughout the building

World Down Syndrome Day
On Tuesday March 23rd, 2021, LMHS joined the global celebration of World Down Syndrome Day. Together we created a single global voice for advocating for the rights, inclusion and well being of people with Down Syndrome in our school, community and around the world. The date for World Down Syndrome Day, being the 21st day of the 3rd month, was selected to signify the uniqueness of the triplication (trisomy) of the 21st chromosome which leads to Down syndrome. Thank you to those who participated!

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced the student teams from Lower Moreland High School, in Lower Moreland Township, Montgomery County, and The Hill School, in Pottstown Borough, Montgomery County, have been selected as the PennDOT District 6 winners for its fourth Innovations Challenge.
The Lower Moreland High School team, mentored by Nick Solomon, includes students Misha Bankulla, Gopiga Doss, and Daniel Porotov. The Road Warriors’s innovative idea consists of using piezoelectric plates on heavily trafficked roadways and transportation networks. The students persuaded that PennDOT could then potentially generate large amounts of sustainably sourced energy, which may prove economical.
Now in its fourth year, the PennDOT Innovations Challenge invites high school students in grades 9-12 to use their problem-solving, creative, and strategic-thinking abilities to solve real-world transportation challenges. The Innovations Challenge aims to not only help students explore actual transportation challenges that PennDOT is facing, but also open their minds to the very real possibility of working for PennDOT after graduation.
“District 6’s eight finalist teams presented outstanding innovative ideas to help with the future of Pennsylvania’s transportation funding needs,” said Mike Rebert, District 6 Acting District Executive. “It’s hopeful that our youth will improve the future of transportation.”
Regional winners will now move on to compete virtually in Harrisburg for the state championship.
The Lower Moreland Chess Team just completed their final roll coaster thrill ride season with a 7th place finish in the league. It was all nail biting matches from start to finish with Nihal "Is The Queen's Gambit a Show or a Move?" Bankulla placing in the top 20 individual competitors. Other members include Emmit "I'll hang rooks if I want to" Fitzgerald, Mihir "Unrated" Ram, Liam "Better than Aviel" Resnick, Phillip "How Could This Possibly Be a Bad Move? Oh." Duarte, Sean "That Was Today?" Thomas, Varun "If You Are Going to Win or Lose, Make Sure You Do It By A LOT" Singh and Brendon "Let's Hurry This Up I Need to Be At Penn in 20 Minutes" Achildi. Coach Nick Solomon wants to remind everyone to be safe and never play f2-f3 (or f7-f6), especially before castling.
This year, Ava Lee and Misha Babkulla (two juniors) started the Gift of Life Club to help raise awareness about organ and tissue donation. In an all virtual setting, our club members learn about the importance of organ donation through engaging lessons and activities. The club promotes organ donation as many teens are getting their permits and licenses where they sign up to become donors. It has also allowed students to support transplant families at the local Gift of Life Family House through various donation drives. The Gift of Life Club is off to a great start and we hope to get even more members to join and support the cause! Our club members helped us create a website to explain what our club does and how it raises awareness about organ donation and that website can be found here: https://sites.google.com/stu.lmtsd.org/giftoflifeclubwebsite/home?authuser=0

Updated Attendance Protocol
All of your attendance reporting needs for all learners will be handled by one electronic form that will replace the Blue Card online form and the Yellow Card online form (used at Pine Road). This will also replace the need for a phone call to the attendance line.
Use this form to report your child’s absence. Submitting this form will both report the absence and document it. No follow up Blue card is needed.
Submit this form to sign your child into school late.
Submit this form to sign your child out for an appointment (early dismissal). This form allows you to enter a return to school time if your child will be returning to school.
Please Note:
If you are taking an extended vacation, you will still need to complete the Request for Excusal from Regular School Attendance, familiar to most families as a vacation request form. The form is found on the Virtual Backpack under Forms.
Doctors’ notes still need to be submitted to the school attendance secretary or sent into school.

Anti-Bullying FAQ
We wanted to provide some information to families following our LMTSD Parent/Guardian Bullying Prevention Information survey. Below are some answers to some Frequently Asked Questions and information related to district procedures.
Are you aware of the anonymous reporting system being used in Pennsylvania, Safe2Say Something?
Safe2Say Something is a statewide anonymous, 24-7, reporting process for a variety of safety concerns. Click HERE for more information on this initiative.
Are you aware of the Lower Moreland Township School District Harassment/Bullying Reporting Form?
This form is used to gather information about incidents related to bullying. Students, parents, teachers, and administrators can all use this form. This form can be found on each school’s website. Click HERE to view the form.
As a parent, I have a clear understanding of the school's policies, practices, and procedures related to issues of harassment and bullying.
All reported incidents related to bullying are investigated, regardless of how they are reported. The District Code of Conduct is the structure used to apply consequences. Cases are referred to the police if the nature of the incident requires it.
We continue to partner with students, staff, and families to provide a safe environment for all students.
Lower Moreland Township School District is committed to preventing all forms of bullying, cyberbullying, and harassment. For more information please see the district web site: https://www.lmtsd.org/Page/13723 In addition, please know that at the High School, bullying and harassment forms are available in the main office as well as the guidance office.

Free breakfast and lunch for anyone 18 years old and younger was extended through the 20-21 school year! Students can eat breakfast and lunch in school for free or families can pick up on Tuesdays and Fridays at Murray Ave from 3:30-5:30. Please email Ms. Logan Myers at lmyers@lmtsd.org if interested in picking up.
The Giant Company is partnering with Lower Moreland to help support children in our school district facing food insecurity.
