Expectations for Learning
Grading Scale
Here is a link to our grading scale. You can include this link or pictures of the parts of the grading scale you want to share with families or both. :)
Calendars
Here is a link where you can access our calendars. There is a printable school calendar as well as Google calendars that have more details for primary school, elementary school, middle school, and high school.
Supply Lists
We encourage students and families to plan ahead to make sure they have all the supplies that are needed, especially for projects. You can find this information in the welcome lesson for each course.
Live Sessions/ Tutoring
Live Session Information
Live sessions are available for silver +, gold, and diamond students.
These sessions will be held on Tuesdays at 9:00 am Pacific Time for 3rd-grade math and science. Students will receive the new link to join weekly on Ignitia.
On Fridays, beginning with September 1st, I will host an open Zoom session as "Office Hours" from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM Pacific Time. This will be a time for students to ask questions about assignments or projects that they are working on. An Ignitia message will be sent with the link every Friday.
Tutoring (Gold and Diamond)
For diamond students, tutoring is unlimited, dependent on teacher availability.
For gold support, students get up to 2 hours a month of tutoring in total for all classes.
Here is a link where you can set up a one-to-one tutoring session.
I look forward to working with you! :)
Absence Policy
One of the benefits of online schooling is that students have a little bit more flexibility to set their own schedules. Students can work in the mornings or evenings, during the week or on weekends, as long as they complete all their work by Sunday of each week. At EA we want you to be able to have the flexibility and also provide the accountability for students to be able to finish their classes on time.
If your student is planning on being absent, we ask that your student works ahead on their due dates in Ignitia or catches up on work once they return.
If your student is going to be absent for more than 3 days, you can submit this absence form so that the Progress Department is aware of your situation. We still ask that your student works ahead or catches up after any absences.
Please feel free to email progress@enlightiumacademy.com if you have any questions.
Questions? :)
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me directly.
You are also welcome to use the Enlightium Knowledge Base to search for resources that may be helpful.
Tips for Success!
Below are a few guidelines that will help you to succeed.
Follow Directions :)
We would like you to answer questions in lessons in the writer's boxes, instead of attaching an upload, if they are less than one paragraph long.
Answer Every Question :)
Try to answer every question. If you ever need help, please send me a help message. I am here to help you succeed and learn. If you submit a blank answer I will give you a warning and a score of 0 for the question. If you submit a second blank answer your score for the question will be a 0, and I will have to take 15% off your score for the assignment.
Be Prepared!
Some assignments may require you to have specific supplies, or they may require additional time. If you would like to know what supplies are needed follow the links below to see a list of all the supplies needed for the school year. When you begin a new science unit and see that an experiment is required for science, please look carefully at how long the lab might take so that you can prepare for it.
Here are links with information about the curriculum.
Take Notes!
Take your time on your lessons. Be sure you are spending no less than 15 minutes reading your lessons and taking notes. Note-taking is important because it helps you process the information. Also, the handwritten notes you take can be used on your quizzes and tests.
Here is a link to a website with specific examples of how to take notes.
Use Livebinder!
Livebinder is an online library of resources created by EA teachers. It is full of resources that are categorized by concept or by course. Livebinder is helpful for the following situations:
- When students would like help understanding a topic
- When students are interested in more information related to a specific Ignitia lesson.
- When students want to spend extra time preparing for a quiz or test
Always Be Honest!
Submit Quiz Corrections!
As stated in the EA Family Handbook, lessons and quizzes are automatically reassigned for a second attempt through Ignitia, if a student receives below a 73% on the first attempt. If a student still scores below a 73% on a quiz after this second attempt, he/she may submit corrections up to a 70%
Here is a link that explains quiz corrections in more detail.
THANK YOU!!
I am so excited to work with each of you!
Best,
Mrs. Thomas
