Panther Paws Parent Newsletter
All things Social/Emotional at Warner Elementary!
Welcome!
I am so excited to be starting this parent newsletter and helping to provide social/emotional resources to you and your families! At Warner Elementary, we strive to provide your child with enriching social/emotional learning opportunities, which will assist in leading to academic success, less emotional distress, and positive social behavior.
My intent to begin this newsletter is to share social/emotional resources, offer tips/advice, and provide a safe place where parents and families can feel comfortable enough to reach out for help or just be validated and heard. Please do not hesitate to contact me at any time with any questions or concerns at jared.cole@wsdpanthers.org. Thank you!

How to Talk with your Children about Coronavirus
1. Validate your child's concerns. Oftentimes, children aren't looking for answers or advice; they simply want their concerns to be heard and validated.
2. Be careful with the amount of information they are receiving or you are sharing. Let your children guide the conversations. The information you provide can be based on the questions they may have and the age of the child. For example, "What worries do you have about what you've been hearing?" Be honest; we tend to have more anxiety when we are kept in the dark.
3. Create some healthy habits/routines together. Sometimes children may need reminders on how to properly wash hands and cover a sneeze/cough.
More information is provided throughout this newsletter on how to communicate with children about Coronavirus, videos children can watch to learn more about Coronavirus, and resources that you can utilize if you find yourself struggling in this time of uncertainty and social distancing.
