Woodbury Junior-Senior High Community Newsletter
September 30 Community Newsletter
Dear parents and guardians,
It was a pleasure seeing so many of you at Back to School Night on Thursday. We hope you enjoyed the evening as well and were able to connect with your child's teachers. These relationships are crucial components to ensuring a successful school year. Over the coming months, please do not be hesitant to reach out or feel like your are being burdensome. Communication lines need to stay open so that the home-school partnership remains solid; this newsletter, in fact, is the main way we are trying to keep everyone informed.
Every week we will feature students discussing WHY they love Woodbury. I hope you enjoy the video below.
In partnership,
Principal Taylor
Nurse Updates
Please review Covid-19 Information on the school’s website. Guidance is provided for positive cases and close contacts. Please continue to notify the attendance office or the school nurses if your child tests positive.
· Keep those School Nurse Emergency Cards coming in!
· Sixth Grade Immunization records are due. Please send in proof of TdaP and Meningitis vaccines as your child receives them. You may also notify the nurse that they have been completed. Students will be excluded from school if updated medical information is not received by October 14.
· It is important to arrange ahead of time for a friend/family member to serve as someone who could pick up your child if they become sick or injured at school. Children should be picked up within one hour of a parent/guardian being notified.
· Please encourage your child to eat breakfast at home or take part in the breakfast available at school. Many headaches and stomach aches can be avoided if breakfast is eaten.

Sports and Activities Updates
Ellie Allamby finished off a pass from Emerald Sills for the game's lone goal as Woodbury Girls Soccer prevailed with a 1-0 win over Penns Grove this week. Ryann Storms stopped 21 shots to earn the clean sheet.
The marching band students were very successful in their first competition of the season! They performed "Spartacus" among 18 different schools from New Jersey and Pennsylvania. In our division, we placed 2nd out of three different schools! Our score was a 75.6, which is a great place to be for our first competition. The range of the scores were 72.7 (lowest) to 85.7 (highest) between all schools. The students were able to see well-developed programs perform, with up to 200 students on the field for some schools!
The judges said that we have a great show, our students are performing extremely well for the amount of people we have, and we have plenty of room to grow throughout the season! Our kids had a great time and bonded together, which is all that matters. Woodbury has their head up high, and cheers to the start of a great season!
Congratulations to Alexis Davis on her commitment to St. Bonaventure University!
The Woodbury Health and PE dept. would like to thank Officer Carl Villone of the Woodbury PD was a guest speaker in our drivers Ed classes today. Officer Villone engaged students with interactive activities while informing students of the importance of safe driving. The Woodbury Health and Physical Education Department would also like to thank Mr. Tom Gano, from The Gift of Life organ donation program, for speaking with my driver’s education
