2021 Summer Reading Program & Enrichment
We ALWAYS Will be a Community of Readers!
Thanks to all our students, staff and families that joined our Community of Readers to read 7,583 books! The best way to grow readers is to make reading a life long habit. We encourage all our "Proud Patriots" to commit to reading all summer long!
IMPORTANT SUMMER READING INFORMATION!
One important element to any successful summer is our commitment to keeping our kids' academic skills sharp so our students return to school confident in their abilities and ready to tackle their next grade level!
District Summer Reading Program
Toms River Regional Schools has developed a Summer Reading Program consisting of a student created "Book Talk." A "Book Talk" is an informal oral recommendation about a book that a student really enjoyed reading. "Book Talks" usually take, at most, two to three minutes and are unscripted. The objective of the program is to encourage our students to read as much as possible during the summer and foster a community of readers once they return to school. Although the requirement is to read only one book, it is important to read as much as possible this summer.
Students will need to read at least one book this summer, choose a favorite, and create a "Book Talk." "Book Talks" will be graded upon return to school in September.

Cedar Grove Elementary Summer Activities
Typically during this time of year, we get requests from parents for information on academic activities that can be completed over the summer in addition to summer reading. Mr. Lanza put together this list of K-5 Recommended Summer Activities. He organized the activities by "minimum recommended activities" and "suggested enrichment." We hope this helps you support continued learning this summer!

June Enrichment Activities Calendar
Squeezing out that last bit of fun...
Here is the link to the calendar to access our last week of enrichment activities. We are very proud of our students who have chosen to participate in these voluntary experiences. (And our teachers have LOVED spending this time with students.)
Just a reminder, if students choose to attend an enrichment class, be sure to attend only at a time that is not previously scheduled with a classroom teacher, ESL teacher, basic skills teacher, G/T teacher or resource room teacher.
