Dr. Johnson's Notes
Week of September 20
Next week is Fall Break, and all of Marietta Schools are closed for the entire week. If you need some help with childcare, consider joining the Marietta City Fall Break camp! Flyer below!
The week of October 17-21, we will have early dismissal at 1:15 every day for parent/teacher conferences. If you need help with childcare on those afternoons, consider signing up for Sports Camp and/or ASP! Flyers and links below.
Would you take a few minutes to complete this questionnaire? Our PTA is trying to get an idea of all the various gifts and talents our community has to share with our sweet school. Thank you!
Thank you to our families who have adjusted your morning schedules to arrive by 8:15! It is really making a difference in our morning instruction--keep it up!
Join us on our journey to understand a child's reading brain! Our staff is working through the most rigorous and powerful professional learning that any of us have ever experienced. We are fully committed to shifting our practice toward the science of reading, with the goal of all children reading at or above grade level by 3rd grade. The Rollins Center for Language and Literacy publishes courses for educators and families to better understand how children best learn to read. Consider downloading the Titan app this year! In one app, you can see the weekly breakfast and lunch menu, add money to your child's account, and monitor his/her spending. Click here: https://family.titank12.com/

One of our staff members volunteers at the Cherokee Family Violence Shelter. She sent this request that I wanted to share with you all. If you feel led to donate, please drop donations by the front office with the attention to Ms. Harris.
Cherokee Family Violence Center is an agency that that provides services to those impacted by domestic violence. CFVC has an emergency shelter which offers a safe place for women and children to go. The shelter relies heavily on community donations and needs your help. They are currently in need of clothes (in any size) for women and children as well as laundry detergent and dryer sheets.
The next big PTA event is Screen on the Green! We will enjoy a movie on the lawn under the stars.
Our PTA also gets a portion of the sales on school spirit nights. This week we have Papa Johns Pizza, and next week, we have 3 Amigos on October 6 during Fall break! Flyers in this newsletter!
