Sherwood Updates
Thank you to our entire Sherwood community for another great week!
We are noticing the gradual increase of sunlight each day and know spring will be here in the blink of an eye. Thank you to our amazing students, staff, and families for the ongoing partnership. It takes a team to weather the cold, snowy days we have been experiencing.
We are so excited to see everyone next week and to continue to build on the great things happening everyday at Sherwood!

A Note From Mrs. Weiss for 2/2/22
We are excited to share that we will be celebrating “Two’s Day” on 2/2/22! Our Sherwood pandas will be doing some fun "2" themed classroom and school-wide activities.
Join in the fun by incorporating 2’s into what you wear to school that day. Here are some suggestions:
- wear 2 of any item
- wear a tutu
- wear blue (rhymes with two)
- wear a sport jersey with #2 or #22
Get creative! We can't wait to see what you come up with!
Lost and Found
Any items not claimed by Friday, February 11th will be donated.
Valentine's Day
This year we will be celebrating Valentine’s Day at Sherwood!
Our students will be participating in a service project and students will have the option to exchange valentines with their classmates. Please do not include any type of food items with the valentines. If you are interested in having your child participate in our valentines exchange, and you are in need of financial assistance, please reach out to Rachel Filippi (rfilippi@nssd112.org) directly.
Room Parents will be decorating the classroom doors on February 9th and 11th after school hours. Since there won't be any class parties, Room Parents will be providing teachers with ideas of fun activities to do during the day including great movement breaks and games. Thank you to our amazing PTO for organizing this!
Our PTO has also organized a wonderful service project to help celebrate the day. Sherwood will be spreading the love this Valentine's Day by working with Color A Smile. This organization is a nonprofit that distributes cheerful drawings to senior citizens, troops overseas, and anyone who needs a smile. We will provide each class with a variety of pages.
All students need to do is color, sign their names, and write their ages. Everything can be dropped back off in the office on Tuesday, February 15th and the PTO will collect and send out to Color A Smile.
Please note the following things to avoid:
1) No glitter
2) No get well wishes
3) No dates noted on the sheets
More information on this great organization can be found here.
Spring Social-Emotional Screener
As part of our continued efforts to ensure the whole child is supported, the District will be administering a Universal Social-Emotional Screener to all students during the week of February 14th.
The purpose of this screener is to provide data on where students could benefit from continued or additional support. This screener is not intended to serve as an evaluation of individual students.
For students in grades K through 2, classroom teachers will complete the screener. For students in grade 3 through 5, classroom teachers will complete the screener and students will complete a self-screener.
Pursuant to Board Policy 6:65 this is in support of social-emotional learning standards. And pursuant to Board Policy 7:15, if you would like to opt your student out of the survey, please email Rachel Filippi (rfilippi@nssd112.org) and Kevin Saunders (ksaunders@nssd112.org).
