2023-24 Kindergarten Registration-Now Open
Online registration began on November 28, 2022 and In-person Kindergarten registration will be available on December 7 from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Parents/legal guardians of incoming kindergartners should complete online or in-person registration by Wednesday, Dec. 7, to allow schools to determine their classroom sizes, staffing needs and the number of school choice seats they can offer.
If you are interested in a school tour, you may schedule that individually with Werner staff (970-488-5550). Prior to school beginning in August, our team will be providing opportunities to help with the transition and will have opportunities for connecting and touring the building.
In order to attend kindergarten, your child must be five years old on or before Oct. 1.
You will need the following information to register for school (bring with you if registering in person or upload if registering online):
Verification of child’s birth date (birth certificate, passport, baptismal certificate, military ID, original or certified copies acceptable).
Proof of address (a copy of a lease agreement, mortgage statement, utility bill, etc., that shows that the parent/guardian lives at an address within school boundaries)
Immunization record or an immunization exemption form
Custody documents (if applicable)
If you do not live in the Werner attendance area, you must apply for School of Choice online through the Poudre School District website by 11:59 PM MST on December 15. Decisions on acceptance for School of Choice will begin by January 11, 2023.

School Lunch and Fee Payment Information
Paying for school fees and/or lunches is easy using SchoolPay. Below is the link for signing your student up, paying fees and/or adding funds to your student’s meal account.
PSD offers an easy and secure way to make payments to your child’s school on-line with a credit/debit card for fees and other charges as well as your child’s meal account through the District’s payment portal, SchoolPay.* The Pay Fees/Charges web page has information and instructions on paying fees and other charges online or go directly to the SchoolPay website.
Fees may also be paid in person at your child's school, paying with cash or check.

Literacy Engagement Nights

Hello PSD staff and families,
Members of the community are invited to help Poudre School District select the next elementary literacy curriculum. There are three nights this month where attendees may provide feedback.
On Nov. 30, the PSD Literacy Materials Review Team met to finalize the vendors for our K-5 literacy adoption. The three finalists are (alphabetic order):

Sessions are open to the public and scheduled for:
- 6-8 p.m. Jan. 17, Eyestone Elementary School, 4000 Wilson Ave., Wellington
- 6-8 p.m. Jan. 18, Rocky Mountain High School, 1300 W. Swallow Road, Fort Collins
- 6-8 p.m. Jan. 19, Fossil Ridge High School, 5400 Ziegler Road, Fort Collins
The purpose of these nights is to allow families to examine materials first hand, as well as ask questions about the materials directly to vendors. Vendors will present their materials at these events, which include an opening session explaining the purpose for the adoption, what we hope to gain from the adoption, and an overview of the adoption process that has been followed. From there, each participant will be allowed to move among vendor rooms to view individual presentations.
Public feedback on the materials will be collected at these meetings through comment cards placed at the door. We look forward to your participation in the process and the feedback you will provide.

Support Students Experiencing Homelessness
The number of PSD families and youth experiencing homelessness has risen by 10% since last year, and their needs have risen exponentially. Currently, one out of every 27 students is experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity in our district. Students experiencing homelessness encounter many barriers to their education. Our department works to help youth and families overcome these barriers, including transportation, access to extracurricular activities, before and after-school care, and meeting basic needs. We do this along with case-management to help them reach independence.
Your generous donation allows the Language, Culture and Equity Department to support these students and families with personal items, temporary shelter, provisions, clothing, etc.
The need has never been greater.
Please help us reach our goal of raising $40,000 to support PSD students and families facing housing insecurity and homelessness.

One of many ways information is shared is through the PSD Now community newsletter, which features timely information about the latest happenings in the district. This is emailed to families and interested community members about every other Thursday.
FREE & REDUCED MEAL PROGRAM
It’s not too late to apply for the Free & Reduced Meal Program for this school year. By doing so your student’s approval to the program carries over for the first 30 days of next school year. Also, there are advantages to being on this program with discounts given throughout our community for student summer programs. Check out fcgov.com/reducedfee website for more information. The before and after school program, AlphaBest, also gives a 15% discount. Apply on-line at www.myschoolapps.com. Please note that August 1, 2022 is the first day you can apply on line for the 2022-2023 school year. Families do have to apply each school year unless they receive a letter stating otherwise.
