Richmond Heights Secondary School

February 2021

Spartan Nation, Spartan Pride...

Spartan Nation,

The Spring is fast approaching and we are truly missing our students. We appreciate all of your support and patience as we navigate our "new normal" during COVID. While our students are engaging in virtual learning, our teachers have been plugging away at creating innovative lessons that can capture minds of our students while online and beyond. It has been no easy feat, but we have accepted the challenge.

This months newsletter will be full of updates as we work to close out this non-traditional school year while bringing our students back to campus. Our staff, students, parents and community have been the backbone of our efforts during this time and we will remain forever grateful.

Secondary School Return Plan

As you drive by, you can see the newly erected Upper School that is currently sitting behind the "old building." As the project nears completion, we will begin to communicate when students will be able to return to campus for "In-Person" learning. We are looking to have students back in March after the building is complete and occupancy is rendered. STAY TUNED!!!

Class of 2021 Update

It's that time of the year when we celebrate our graduating seniors on their AMAZING Accomplishments. By this year being remote, our students have missed out on some of their senior year experiences, so we want to be sure that we are able to provide them with s few lasting memories. Take a look below:

PROM- At this time, we are not proceeding with a prom due to the continued restrictions by the Governor regarding gatherings. If things change, we will let you know.

GRADUATION- We will host a socially distance graduation in the new Upper School on Tuesday, May 25th (Tentative Date). Graduates will only be able to have 2 guests as we must adhere to COVID guidelines in regards to crowd size and safety. Details will be provided at a later date.

SENIOR PICTURES- The school does not host senior pictures, however, we can provide you a referral if needed. We will be taking Cap & Gown pictures in April here on campus. Details will follow.

YEARBOOK- There will be a Class of 20/21 Yearbook provided to students.

ACADEMICS- Graduating seniors MUST pass ALL of thier coursework and required exams in order to graduate. NO EXCEPTIONS. If you have any questions, please email or call Mrs. Meintel. She will also be reaching out to those who MUST take exams to graduate.

FUTURE PLANS- Students MUST complete thier "Future Plans." This form is located in Mrs. Meintel's Google Classroom and below. The information collected from the "Future Plans" form will be placed in our graduation program. This form must be completed by Monday, February 22, 2021. Without this form, you will NOT receive a Cap & Gown.

Graduation Test (OST)- The Ohio Department of Education has not granted a reprieve for testing for the 20-21 school year. This means students are required to take ALL subject area exams. These exams are required for students to graduate and are not optional. We will be administering OST exams during the month of April.

  • Students in grades 7 and 8 will be required to test.
  • Students currently enrolled in these subjects are required to test:
