Parent Feedback Needed!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Parents,
We need your help! We are looking for your feedback. We would like for you to complete the Georgia Parent Survey. You may complete the survey using your personal computer, smartphone, or tablet. The data collected from the survey will be used as part of the calculation of the School Climate Star Rating, which is an indicator in our academic accountability system, the College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI). Survey responses are anonymous and will be submitted directly to the Georgia Department of Education for analysis.

Tech Tips: BYOT
This time of year often brings new devices to our students. Parents often wonder what the rules and expectations are for BYOT, or Bring Your Own Technology. You may read all the details on the Technology Dept webpage: Click here to read about BYOT.
If you're looking for apps that kids frequently use at school:
- MyOn
- Dreambox
- RAZ Kids
- Wixie
- Google Suite (Drive, Docs, and Sheets)
- A QR code reader (unless you have an Apple device with iOS 11 - then just use the camera!)
- etc....there are LOADS of apps that individual teachers may recommend!
Happy Holidays,

The holidays are a wonderful time to catch up with family and friends. Many families travel over the holiday break as well. Along with all the celebration come stress. Eight in ten Americans report that the holidays are a time of increased stress. The good news is nearly 9 in 10 believe that holidays should be more about family and caring for others, not giving and receiving gifts.
Some ways to help reduce stress over the holidays are:
Read a good book together.
Draw and color or paint a holiday scene.
Bake some goodies or make some tea. The scent will be wonderful and calm your nerves.
Play or exercise.
Sing and laugh.
Watch a favorite holiday movie.
By doing these things together you can reduce the holiday stress and have some special time together as a family.
May you have a safe and relaxing holiday break,
Dr. Collins & Ms. Driscoll
Winter News from the Nurse
As the weather gets colder the clinic sees more students with cold symptoms. Washing hands, eating healthy food and getting a good night sleep should be encouraged to help your student stay healthy!! Although it is never to late for the flu shot, please consider getting one as soon as possible.
Please remember to alert the school if your child has a doctor confirmed case of flu and other contagious illnesses like pink eye, strep throat or hand-foot and mouth. If your child has lice it is our policy that students show proof of treatment before returning to school.
Visit the Midway Elementary website and under Student Services click on School Nurse for lots of useful information about the difference between a cold and a flu, when a student should or should not come to school, what to do if your child has lice or whether a cough drop is considered a medication (yes, it is).

From the Midway Café
What a notable November we’ve had in the Mustang Café! We celebrated our Veterans and threw Mickey Mouse a 90th Birthday party, all while serving up nutritious, tasty meals for our amazing students and staff. It’s been a month of thankfulness as we had time off to be with family & friends and hopefully we all took some time to reflect on what we are truly grateful for. Even in the everyday stresses of life, our grateful attitudes will propel us into a better future. We continue to be grateful for all our staff, students and families here at Midway.
Our Harvests of the Month were citrus and sweet potatoes. Both are served regularly in the café. We have shoestring sweet potato fries this year that have been a hit. Packed with twice the fiber of regular potatoes with a low glycemic index, rich in vitamins C & E, and twice the RDA for vitamin A, and we can all use the extra vitamin C packed in the citrus we serve. Sweet oranges and tangy grapefruit are regular menu items.
We’re looking forward to a fun December too! We’re teaming up with our pre-k class on the 19th for our annual “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” anniversary celebration. We love doing this each year leading up to our winter break. Come visit when you can, and as always please contact me if I can be of any assistance. May your December be merry and bright and filled with lots of love!!
