Dear KMMS Parents and Guardians,
Is Middle School hard? Was it hard for you? This recent article (Why Is Middle School So Hard for So Many People?) certainly caught my eye. The author provides a quick overview of the variety of issues children wrestle with in these years that do make it hard - growth spurts, changing friendships, empathy shortages. She also provides a number of links to other resources and books. Enjoy!
And enjoy your weekend!

Student Drop Off - The middle parking lot between the Middle School and Dousman Elementary is not a designated student drop off location. Please follow the traffic pattern and drop your child off at the South end of the school at the designated Student Drop off location. There have been some close calls in the parking lot, near misses of students/staff in the crosswalk, and unnecessary congestion due to vehicles not following the correct procedures. Thank you for making this correction and for keeping everyone safe.
Traffic Pattern for Dismissal - If you are arriving at school to pick up your child and do not want to park in the parking lot, please utilize the inner lane around the building in the pick up line. The outer lane is the drive thru lane that must remain open to keep the flow of traffic moving. Do not use the outer lane as a lane to park in and wait for your child. You will be asked to move. If the pick up lane is full and traffic is extending out to Ottawa Ave, you will need to pull in the lot (using the outer pick up lane) and park in the lot.
Here is a link to the traffic pattern map. Thank you for your help in providing a safe environment for everyone.
