Saint - Wrote the 95 theses which brought people away from the Church which decreased the Churches power

This image represents how Martin Luther took power and followers from the Church. Martin Luther would have been the person who was holding the sign leading all of the other people. Martin Luther got a lot of followers from his ideas stated in his 95 thesis. He wrote about things like how selling indulgences was wrong. This brought people away from the Church which in turn decreased the Churches power. In just a couple of years after Martin Luther we see that there were radical changes. The sign in the picture would have been the 95 thesis.

Saint - He stood up against the Church

Martin Luther was a saint because he stood up against the Church. Martin Luther didn't redact his works because of the Church. Martin Luther used the Bible to prove himself right. He uses the Bible to say that in the Bible it says that only God has the power to forgive people of their sins. Selling indulgences counters that. When the Pope sells indulgences he is forgiving the people not God. In this picture a person is holding the Bible. Martin Luther used the Bible to prove himself right that selling indulgences are bad and the Catholic Church is abusing their power.

Martin Luther was a sinner because he questioned the Pope and the Church of what they were doing. He said things like selling indulgences was bad and that only God had the power to forgive sins. The Pope was the highest authority in the Catholic religion, but a common priest was questioning him. In this image the current Pope is being questioned by a common person. The Pope back then was being questioned by Martin Luther a common priest.

He is not a good Catholic and is a sinner.

Sinner - He wrote aggressively

Martin Luther wrote aggressively. He wrote a lot about the Church and what they were doing. He said things like the Church could not give absolution and only doing good acts could free you from your sins. This image is a picture of someone writing something on a pieces of paper.
