A Message from Mr. Neal
As we continue to stretch and strive for excellence, the staff is constantly looking for factors that have an impact on student success. This year, we are looking to improve our overall attendance rate to 97%. Our attendance rate last year was 95.63% which was an improvement from the 2014-15 school year but significantly lower than the surrounding high schools. The Centennial staff appreciates your support as we work together to meet our goals. It is a goal of ours to make Centennial one of the best schools in the state and attendance is a big factor in a school’s success.
Once again, thank you for your support. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
Go Spartans!
Jimmy Neal
Principal
EXCEL+ Intervention Days
The FAFSA opened Saturday, October 1. FAFSA is the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. You must complete this application to receive grants, scholarships, work study and/or loans for college. The FAFSA is also a requirement for the Burleson Opportunity Fund.

PSAT: All students in grades 9-11 will be taking the PSAT on October 19. Students are automatically signed up for the test at no charge, no action is required. Freshman will be taking the PSAT 8/9. Sophomores and Juniors will be taking the PSAT/NMSQT (National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test). Only Juniors are eligible for the National Merit Scholarship Program.
PSAT Calculators: All Juniors will be supplied calculators for the PSAT. Freshman and Sophomore students may bring their own calculators to the test, but they must follow College Board Calculator Guidelines.
Why is the PSAT Important? The PSAT stands for Preliminary SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test). It is a good resource to use when preparing and studying for the SAT. You can even link your PSAT results to Khan Academy to get personalized SAT prep. For Juniors taking the PSAT/NMSQT your scores could qualify you for the National Merit Scholarship Program. The National Merit Scholarship Program is an academic competition for recognition and college scholarships that began in 1955. High school students enter the National Merit Program by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).
- Centennial High School will be administering the TSI (Texas Success Initiative) to seniors on November 30. The cost of the test is $39 to be paid by cash or check, turned into Mrs. Pair by November 1st. Checks need to be made out to Hill College and will not be cashed until after the test is administered. Registration is not complete until payment has been made. Students must complete the TSI Pre-Assessment and bring the certificate of completion on test day. The pre-assessment activities and certificate can be found at: http://www.hillcollege.edu/students/Testing/index.html. Students must bring the following items on test day: Pre-assessment certificate of completion (Link above), Photo ID, Social Security Number. Register for the TSI HERE
- The last day to register for the December 10th ACT is November 4th. Click here for SAT/ACT Registration Information. Click here for SAT Registration Instructions
