Growing with God...September 24, 2021
Dear St. Michael Preschool Families,
Happy Fall, everyone! We love the cooler temperatures this season brings, along with the many opportunities for our preschoolers to grow in their faith and love of learning! Next week, we look forward to joyfully celebrating St. Michael Feast Day! On September 28 & 29, we will pray and play together in honor of our patron saint. Your child's teachers have planned fun and meaningful activities inside and outside the classroom including visits from our Pastor, Fr. Michael, and parish priest, Fr. Noe. Please be sure to check the Realm Newsfeed daily so you do not miss any of these special moments. Also, CLICK HERE to learn more about St. Michael Church's feast day events and other 25th Anniversary celebrations.
We thank you for your continued support and prayers, and may St. Michael the Archangel protect you and your loved ones always. St. Michael, keep us safe day and night, give us courage, strength, and might. Amen.
Joyfully in Christ,
Lisa Ciesla
Preschool Director
PICTURE DAY - Oct. 12-14
The children will have their individual pictures taken. Your child's teacher will communicate your assigned picture day. A link to view a proof and order will be emailed shortly after, and retakes may be requested. If you would like to have siblings photographed together, please plan to arrive at school by 9:15 am to meet with the photographer.
Fall Festival - Oct. 27 & 28
Halloween is a popular holiday among young children. Many have probably already decided what their costumes will be. We want to provide a safe and fun way for your child to still partake in this tradition. On October 27 & 28, the 3, 4, and 5-year-old children may wear a costume to school. Please guide your child to select a costume with nonviolent themes, and please do not send in accessories.
To ensure we follow all health requirements, the children will remain in their "class bubbles" and parade around their classroom or during music with Miss Karen. Our two-year-olds will wear orange on these dates and participate in “Fall Fun” with their class. Your child's class parade and activities will be recorded and shared with you so you can enjoy it together from home.

COVID-19 Testing Coming to St. Michael Campus
More information and a link to register will be provided soon. All testing information is confidential. To learn more about StrongSchoolsNC COVID-19 testing, visit www.MAKOstrongschoolsNC.com. Please forward any questions to nursegroup@stmcary.org.
In the meantime, please do not send your child(ren) to school if anyone in your household is awaiting COVID-19 test results or exhibiting any COVID symptoms, even if the person with symptoms is fully vaccinated!
If your child exhibits any symptoms of COVID-19 between now and when we start on-site testing, we strongly recommend you have your child tested at a COVID-19 testing site rather than using an at-home antigen test. Please forward all COVID-19 test results to preschool@stmcary.org

IMPORTANT REMINDERS
LET'S WORK TOGETHER TO KEEP OUR COMMUNITY HEALTHY!
If a child develops one of the COVID-19 exclusionary symptoms (fever of 100.4 or higher, chills, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, new cough, or new loss of taste or smell), families have three options:
- stay home for 10 days from when symptoms first began, or
- get a negative PCR COVID test, or
- get a note of alternate diagnosis from the pediatrician
If a child is sick with a non-exclusionary symptom, like a fever under 100.4, stuffy or runny nose, sore throat, vomiting, or diarrhea, our normal illness policy applies (24 hours free of diarrhea, vomiting, and fever without fever-reducing medication before returning to school). Your child must feel well before returning to school.

Driving and Parking Lot Safety
- Please drive with caution, and adhere to the posted speed limit and directional signs while in our parking lot
- Remember that you must park in a marked spot
- Hold your child's hand in the parking lot during arrival and dismissal
- No curbside parking is permitted, even with a driver remaining in the car as this creates traffic and safety hazards
- Please never leave children in the car without adult supervision
Snack Allergy Policy
- Children will bring their own snack to school. We ask that it be just one or two items that can be easily enjoyed by your child.
- Snacks may NOT contain peanuts/nuts or peanut/nut products. This includes foods that have been produced/processed in a plant with nut products.
- Avoid potential choking hazards - all grapes, cherries, and mini tomatoes need to be cut in half. Popcorn and hard candy are not permitted.

MUSIC & MOVEMENT
October is one of my FAVORITE months of the whole school year! The hot days of summer melt away and cool, crisp weather arrives! We will be singing and dancing about fall, Halloween, leaves, pumpkins, spiders, and how God made animals-just to name a few. Here are a few songs that we will learn together in music this month. As always, please let me know if you have any questions or if you would like me to send you a song! I am happy to share any of my songs with you.
Happy Fall and God bless you and your families!
Miss Karen
