Change is an opportunity to do something AMAZING!
Good Monday Morning!
I also want you to know we are trying to get a hold of you! Instructors and teacher assistants are reaching out to all our students, but we are having a difficult time getting in touch with some of you! Has your phone number or email changed lately? We may not have updated contact information for you or your parents. If you have not heard from your instructor, please email me at jenny.heath@lisd.us, so I can share your contact information with your instructor.
Take care of yourself and your family and stay healthy and happy!
Are you a senior? Please click on the link below to complete a survey.

“Creativity is contagious! Pass it on!” – Albert Einstein
Wow! We surely are getting creative! Our instructors have most likely been in touch with you by now, and have been passing along creative ways to help you get the most out of your TECH Center experience. Please try to focus on what you can do to improve your grade or obtain your credentials, and add a little optimism and creativity in everything you do! If you need additional supports or have any concerns, we ARE HERE for you!
The LISD TECH Center would like to celebrate the Class of 2020! We are proud of you and your future plans! Please let us know what your post-secondary plan is: college, military, trade school, apprenticeship, or if entering the work force, we consider that “Going Pro!”
Please complete the Senior Survey and upload a photo of yourself holding your college pennants, wearing your military branch t-shirt, or make a “Going Pro!” sign. We will be showcasing our seniors on our social media in the coming weeks.
Email me anytime with questions, or to set up WebEx meetings. sue.ritchey@lisd.us
Updates
Seniors: The Jackson College Foundation has extended the scholarship application deadline to be June 15 instead of April 21. If you are considering Jackson College, please apply! It is a great opportunity and there are a number of great scholarships! Here is the quick link https://jacksoncollege.awardspring.com/.
Seniors: NACAC just released, the Enrollment Deposit Waiver Form! The Enrollment Deposit Waiver Form is available for students & counselors to request that a college waive (or perhaps, defer) their enrollment deposit based on income and need. This was developed so students can enroll in college without the burden of coming up with the $200, $400, $600 deposit. If you could benefit from this, the form can be completed without having to print it. Students should download the form on their computers, fill out the form, add a signature using the “Fill & Sign” button on the top right of the PDF, and save it on their computers. Submit this form to your college admissions office.

Thriving in the Pandemic
Healthy balance in lifestyle is key to thriving through a difficult situation. Each week suggestions will be provided to challenge you to practice healthy living.
*Try these- Make the effort to at least try to do something/s different within your lifestyle.
*Practice these- Recognize the reward will not always be there overnight but through effort and practice we can see changes happen in the way we feel.
*Set goals- Set a realistic goal and time period around any change that you make. At the end of that time period assess your progress, make necessary adjustments, and reset.
*Share your progress with other/s. Share ideas, challenge others to make changes, share and celebrate all progression.
There are many aspects that contribute to healthy balance but the focus will be on the following:
Sleep: Establish a 60-90 minute routine, right before going to bed, free of technology (phones, lap tops, tv). During this time do a quiet activity.
*Read *journal *listen to relaxing music *take a bath *Draw
Exercise: Move your body.
*Walk *ride Bike *jog *shoot baskets *dance *stretch
Good Nutrition: Eat/Drink something healthy.
*Water *fruits *vegetables *nuts
Attitude: Focus on the success you want to make; not on the failure you are trying to avoid. Keep your energy fixed on your successful goal outcome only.
Mindfulness: Practice mindful moments every day when you appreciate something, someone, somewhere, some when. Think about whatever that is for a solid minute (or more) in a positive and appreciate way.
Relaxation: Find ways to relax and let go. During your relaxation think only about being free. While your relaxing remember to take full breaths of breathing in though nose and out through mouth.
Socialization: Make a connection with at least one someone else every day. Check in, share a feeling, share a laugh, lay at least one brick in the building of that relationship.
