The Serene Scoop

Message From the Principal:
We have worked so hard for this Thanksgiving holiday. The students, the staff, and you all deserve this week to rest, get caught up, and reflect on everything we have to be thankful for. Please know that when we, at Serene Hills, list our blessings, the students and their families are among them. We have a very special community and that is something to be thankful for.
Instructional Status Change Forms are Due Dec. 4th, in order for students to return to the building for in-person learning, Jan. 6th. Please email completed forms to our registrar, Dyan Milam at milamd@ltisdschools.org or tuirn them into the front office. If your student is not changing from remote to in-person or vice-versa, you do not need to turn in a form.
We are planning on school remaining open after Thanksgiving, however the school board did approve a TEA waiver that was granted to LTISD in order for teachers and staff to have additional professional days built into this year's calendar. This means that we will not have school on Dec. 18th now. Instead, that will be the first day of the winter break for students and staff will have a professional work day. Holiday perties will now be held Dec. 17th. Click HERE for the updated calendar.
Newly added student holidays/professional work days include:
January 5th
January 19th
March 5th
March 12th Early Release Day (elementary releases at 12:05 & secondary at 1:15)
The third grading period has been changed to end on March 12th and the fourth grading period begins on March 22nd.
When we return on Nov. 30th, our Second Step lesson will focus on same & diferent feelings. We all want to have friends here at school. But people can have similar or different feelings about the same situation. For example, I might feel scared to climb up high, and my friend might feel excited. Learning to respect other people’s feelings can help us make and keep friends! This week, encourage your students to notice other people’s feelings and whether they’re the same or different from theirs.
Have a wonderful & safe Thanksgiving.
Thank you,
Keegan Luedecke
Principal
