Welcome Back! August 2016
Tomball I.S.D. Math 3-6
As we begin our 2016-2017 school year, I’d like to thank you for all the incredible things you do to make our students successful! This is going to be an exciting year!! Together we will roll out our new math curriculum and work to make sure Number Talks, Guided Math, and Math Workshop models are in the process of development in classrooms across Tomball.
Please let me know how I can support you this year. I hope you are having a fantastic first week! I look forward to seeing you soon! :)

In the News...
New Math Director: Please help us welcome... David Surdovel! David is joining us from Manor I.S.D. where he was the Curriculum Director of Math and Science. He has already been an invaluable resource for our math team here at the SDC.
Assessments in the NEW CURRICULUM: There may be some changes to assessments as we roll out the new curriculum. This year, each unit assessment is a common assessments and data will be collected in Aware. Requests for changes to assessments should be made in Eduphoria through the Help Desk. Final edits will be made 2 weeks before the approximate assessment date to allow campuses time to print and copy them for students.
Fact Proficiency Information for Third and Fourth Grade: There is a link on the 3rd Grade YAG document which takes you to the Math Fact Fluency Scope and Tests. 4th grade is going to look similar to 3rd grade and will be added to the new curriculum and YAG soon. In the meantime, fourth grade can access third grade's scope and tests for planning purposes.
Guided Math and Math Workshop: Ann Butts and I have drafted a page of Math Classroom Expectations for TES. We are sharing it out, as this encompasses many parts of Math Workshop.
