Bear Bulletin
Maire newsletter: November 20th Edition
Dear Maire Families,
Transitioning back to virtual learning is taxing on everyone. We have reverted back to our fall schedule with an increased opportunity for live synchronous specials times in the afternoon. This schedule is based on the research done by our GP Learning Committee over the summer. Each family has different life circumstances impacting how challenging this transition is again.
The biggest thing we can do is continue to support everyone to the best of our ability. Take time to listen to your child about how they are feeling being back home and learning via zoom. Find out what parts are more challenging for them and help create a plan to make things go more smoothly. We know there is a burden put on parents to help organize and facilitate asynchronous work. Our staff is trying our best to make that work organized and easy to follow. If you have questions, please reach out to your teacher. Supporting each other and helping each other is the best way to keep this going.
GP continues to examine the safety of bringing our students back. For now, we will continue to push forward with virtual learning and look for guidance from Wayne County and our GP administration. We hope it is safe to be back soon. Thanks for your continued support.

GPPSS meal distribution every Wednesday
Free meals distributed Wednesdays 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.
From 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. every Wednesday, families can pick up a week’s worth of meals for students under age 18 or those receiving special education services under age 26. Simply drive through North High School, 707 Vernier, in Grosse Pointe Woods. In order to keep this as safe as possible for everyone, these meals will be served as “grab and goes” to be taken home for consumption. Free lunch will be served at all schools for students who order when attending in person. Free breakfast will be served at Defer, Mason, Monteith, Parcells, Pierce, North and South when students attend school in person. This is made possible through an extension of the USDA grant.
Free and Reduced Meal Applications: https://gpschools.formstack.com/forms/freeorreduced
Important: Please complete an application each school year if you think you might be eligible as this greatly impacts the district’s ability to access state and federal funding sources. This information is confidential.
